Hey,

I'm Amélie.

I’m the photographer behind Wild North Studio. Based in Yellowknife, on Chief Drygeese Territory, I feel grateful to live and work surrounded by such rich natural landscapes.

Life moves fast — it’s a roller coaster with so much to take in. Sometimes, finding our place in it all becomes easier when we see ourselves in photos: doing the activities we love, being in the spaces that move us, holding the hands of the people who matter most. Photography gives us a chance to step back and see what makes us come alive, while also honouring that we were there — fully present in that moment.

As a photographer, that’s what I love most — capturing the real moments that make us who we are and tie us to the world around us.

Visual art has always been a big part of my life. Photography allows us to slow down to appreciate the world around, as well as to recognize the people who give it meaning. It is meant to tell our stories, and help us piece it all together.
